FAQ's

When can I start using my wrap?

You can start using the wrap anytime from newborn to about 2 years. For premature babies check with your Midwife/Doctor first. It is suitable up to approx 15kg

Is it easy to put on the Cot2tot wrap?

Yes, it is very simple. Most people can do it themselves after one demonstration. You always tie it the same way and then position the baby in the wrap according to how you want to carry them. We recommend practising a couple of times in front of the mirror or using a doll until you get your confidence.

Can I use the wrap in hot weather?

Yes, you can. Carrying your baby close to you can create extra warmth. In hot conditions we recommend you and your baby wear lighter clothing. You may also choose to reduce the carrying time. The Cot2tot wrap is made from 95% cotton so it is breathable and will help you to feel cool in warmer weather.

Why does my baby cry when I put her in the wrap?

If this is the first time you have used a carrier with your baby you may find that they become unsettled for a couple of minutes when you first put them in. Your baby should settle quickly once in the sling. It may help to rock them and walk around. Babies that are carried from birth know no different to being carried so are less likely to object. If your baby can support its head (approx 4 months) you can turn them to the facing out position.

How safe is the Cot2tot Wrap?

The Cot2tot wrap has been rigorously tested by STR (Specialised Technology Resources, UK) for safety and has successfully met all the requirements to comply with EU standard BSEN13209-2005 for child carriers, safety requirements and test methods.

You should always read and follow the safety instructions written in the instruction booklet.

How should the wrap be washed?

It can be washed at 30 degrees and tumble dried on low.

How will my baby's head be supported?

You can support your newborns head using one of the wide shoulder straps. Gently stretch the fabric over the back of your baby's head. You would also do this if your older baby fell asleep whilst in the carrier.

How long can I carry my baby for?

You can carry your baby as long as you both feel comfortable. Carrying your baby keeps your baby contented and leaves you with your hands free!

Will carrying my baby make her clingy?

No, carrying your baby will not make her clingy. Babies need the closeness that carrying provides. A contented baby is a happy baby! Having said that, all babies gain their independence and their need to be carried will subside as their independence increases.

When I carry my baby she feels too low, what am I doing wrong?

It sounds like you have not tied the wrap tightly enough. Make sure that the fabric is tied tight. There is a certain amount of stretch in the wrap so tying tight is essential. Also make sure that the fabric and the knot is tied above the hips to ensure that your baby is carried at the right height.

My husband is much bigger than me, will he be able to use the carrier?

Yes, one size fits all. The wrap is 5.2m long and can be stretched to fit any size of person.
